COMMENTO: Dei 93 pazienti analizzati, 67 (72%) erano uomini e l'età media era di 58 anni. Trentotto erano di etnia afroamericana (40,9%) e 29 di etnia ispanica (31,2%). La durata mediana dell'infezione da HIV era di 20 anni ed il nadir dei CD4+ mediano era di 320 cellule/uL. Ventitre (24,7%) avevano in anamnesi almeno una infezione opportunistica, 62/89 (69,6%) assumevano un regime antiretrovirale (ART) che includeva tenofovir e 12/89 (13,5%) un regime che includeva un inibitore della proteasi.
